Brian Gleckman is a Vancouver-based abstract painter. Born in Los Angeles, he trained at California State University, where he studied Baroque and Rococo art history, yet was inspired in the studio by the energy and tension of Fauvism, Abstract Expressionism, and Minimalism. Brian’s paintings fuse these influences by focusing on the relationship between shape, space, movement, and visual texture. Often working in monochromatic or understated colour schemes, many of Brian’s paintings are infused with ambiguous depth and a simultaneous sense of directness and subtlety. His canvases reflect compositional intent, yet allow for elements of the unexpected to present themselves and to flesh out the immersive nature of his vision. In this, Brian’s process is a constant back-and-forth between the pre-conceived and the organic.

Designated an Exhibiting Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Brian’s paintings have been shown in private and public galleries in the Lower Mainland region of Vancouver, and are collected in Canada and the United States.
