Artist Statement: Originally from San Francisco, Karen works primarily in acrylics on canvas and her art is inspired by her life experiences and the complex world around her. Self-taught as an artist, Karen’s many years of working for social justice and environment-focused non-profit organizations have also informed her craft as a painter. She is interested in the rich colours and textures of her urban and natural environment and her abstract paintings are alive with vivid brushstrokes and details.
Karen is a juried member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and was chosen as the October 2022 featured artist at the gallery on Granville Island. Her work has been featured in numerous local and international exhibitions including a show at the Artize Gallery in Palm Springs, California.
