Monique Motut-Firth is an award winning multidisciplinary artist who uses paper cutouts, paint and animation to explore the recent past of pop culture.
She recombines familiar images into playful reconstructions of visual understanding. Design manuals, architectural drawings and advertisements have been carefully cut out and reimagined. What results are scrap systems echoing other moments, places and vocabularies, broken apart and rebalanced into imaginative compositions that seek to playfully reflect the current multiplicities of our moment.
