Artist statement/Biography:

Zelda Stroud is a South African-born artist who has an MA(FA)  in sculpture. She has done two residencies at the Cité (Paris) and her bronze portraits and life-size figures can be found in numerous international collections. She has, at various times over the past 35 years, taught sculpture, drawing, art history and jewellery design/manufacture at university level as well as privately.

"After rediscovering my love of printmaking, I made a range of figurative etchings but realized that the immediacy of lino-printing is better suited to my impulsive temperament."

Zelda is currently working on printmaking and porcelain jewellery from the home studio of her sister, Charleen, in Kitsilano. They have established a collaborative project "Antithesis", which specializes in handcrafted porcelain and precious-metal jewelry pieces, creating small, portable artworks inspired by their mutual love of art and artifacts.
