As a child, I became fascinated with photography when I discovered a cache of binders in a hall closet chock-full of my parents’ photographs. These hand printed black-and-white photographs summoned me along a lifelong journey.
After graduating from Emily Carr University with a BFA in photography, I was gripped by the wanderlust. I worked as a photographers’ assistant in Los Angeles, a cruise ship photographer, and then back home to photograph weddings. However, my passion has always been towards the fine arts. Today my fine art photographs all have underlying political comments, some are playful or meditative, others haunting.
I use a traditional black-and-white darkroom, where, like my parents before me, I hand print each photograph. My best prints are placed in handmade books, which I design and bind, or mounted in frames and exhibited.
